Bread Pudding


  • 1 loaf of stale French bread cut or torn into bite size pieces
  • 1 quart of whole milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla 
  • 2 teaspoons orange flower water
  • ¼ cup bourbon or brandy

Grease a brownie pan. Beat eggs in a bowl big enough to hold all ingredients including bread. Add the milk, sugar, vanilla and orange flower water and mix well. Add the bread cubes. Pour mixture into the greased pan. Cover with foil or plastic wrap and let soak in the refrigerator at least one hour, preferably overnight. Preheat oven to 325.

Bake pudding 50 minutes but check at 45 minutes to ensure you don’t overcook it. Pull out when middle is still a little jiggly but almost set. Serve warm or cold.
